Vancouver Breakfast Roundtable with Stewart Beck – December 15, 2010
The C-IBC is pleased to announce that it is hosting a breakfast round-table with Stewart Beck, High Commissioner to the Republic of India, on December 15 2010 in Vancouver. C-IBC members and potential members will be attending the event.
Stewart Beck was appointed High Commissioner to the Republic of India and Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Bhutan in September 2010.
Mr. Beck graduated in 1979 from Queen’s University, Kingston with a BA, a BPHE and an MBA. He spent several years working as a business consultant and as Assistant Professor at Queen’s University School of Business in Kingston, Ontario.
Mr. Beck joined Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1982 as a Trade Commissioner. Mr. Beck has served abroad in the United States (San Francisco and Miami), Taiwan and the People’s Republic of China. In 1999, he was appointed consul general to Shanghai.
In Ottawa, he has held a number of positions, including deputy director of the Korea, Taiwan and Indochina Division; director general of the North Asia Bureau; and director general of the Services for Executives Bureau. From 2006 to 2009, he served as assistant deputy minister for international business development, investment and innovation. As part of his mandate, Mr. Beck oversaw the development and execution of Canada’s Foreign Direct Investment Program; the focus of the strategy being the promotion of Canada’s knowledge-based industries and capabilities in key markets and sectors globally.
